On three songs released the week of February 14, 2020, Gunna was a featured artist. He was a part of the remix of “Dior” by the late Pop Smoke, which was released on February 12. He also appeared on two songs that were released on February 14: Marlo’s “My Hood” and A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s “Numbers.” He released the single “Skybox” on March 6, 2020, along with a music video. Later, Gunna and Nav collaborated on the song “Turks,” which also featured Travis Scott. Following Scott’s “Yosemite,” the three artists worked together on the same song for the second time on March 27, 2020.

Six days later, on April 2, 2020, he dropped “Quarantine Clean,” a joint song with producer Turbo and longtime associate Young Thug that made reference to the COVID-19 pandemic. Slime & B, the mixtape by Chris Brown and Young Thug, featured him on April 6. Wunna, Gunna’s second studio album, was released on May 22. There are 18 brand-new hip-hop tracks on the album.

He released his first studio album, Drip or Drown 2, in February 2019. It features Lil Baby, Young Thug, and Playboi Carti. Exact three weeks prior to the album’s release, its lead single, “One Call,” which is platinum-certified, debuted at number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100.

His appearance on Young Thug’s song “Hot” helped him reach the top of the charts on Apple Music.

It served as the lead track for Thug’s So Much Fun, his first studio album, which came out in August 2019. In October 2019, “Hot” received a remix featuring an additional verse from Travis Scott. Both “Diamonds” from the album’s deluxe edition and “Surf” from the album, both of which were released in December 2019, also feature Gunna.

Rapper Tec from Baton Rouge claimed Gunna appeared on a Crimestoppers episode the day before and was cooperating with the authorities by “snitching on criminals” on December 29, 2019. Gunna refuted Tec’s claims, saying, “You better do the history,” to show it wasn’t him. Additionally, Tec asserted that Young Thug’s clothing line, SPIDER, plagiarized his own, Spider Nation.

In Tec’s opinion, it was “stealing his image.” People claimed that Gunna was the one who announced “it was him, Officer” on Crimestoppers.

In February 2018, he released the third season of Drip. Metro Boomin served as executive producer of the mixtape, which also included vocal contributions from Lil Yachty, Lil Durk, Nav, Metro Boomin, and Lil Uzi Vert.

American rapper Lil Baby is another one of Gunna’s close friends. Through numerous singles, including Gunna’s “Sold Out Dates” featuring Baby, which received millions of streams on websites like YouTube and SoundCloud, the couple has demonstrated their chemistry. Additionally, Gunna appeared on Travis Scott’s “Yosemite,” which was regarded as the song in which he used the word “drip” the most frequently.

The song is from Scott’s third studio album, Astroworld, and it also includes vocals from Nav, whose voice in the song was noticeably quiet and who became the target of jokes and memes. Nav made fun of his own vocals on his Instagram after receiving so many criticisms of his singing that he finally acknowledged them. A week after the song’s release, Scott and the song’s producer, Mike Dean, increased his vocals. In “Yosemite,” Scott’s verse imitates Gunna’s verse from “Sold Out Dates.” His and Lil Baby’s joint album Drip Harder, featuring the lead single “Drip Too Hard,” was released in October 2018. The album’s position on the Billboard 200 peaked at number 4.

In order to perform at the Diamond Grill, Gunna and his DJ were traveling to Jonesboro, Arkansas on June 3, 2018. They asked a police officer for directions because they were lost on the way. The officer smelled marijuana, ecstasy, and other drugs when he passed their grey SUV. He quickly searched the vehicle and discovered a box containing edible marijuana inside. Gunna and his DJ were both put in custody. The following day, they were released on a $2,500 bond and had to appear in court again on July 27.

In May 2017, he issued the mixtape Drip Season 2.

With YSL producer and close friend Wheezy, who produced the EP entirely, he released the EP Drip or Drown. On a “Grand Theft Auto” radio station, his song “YSL,” which features American rapper Playboi Carti, could be heard. The remixed version of “Drip or Drown,” the album’s title track, featured vocals from American rapper Lil Yachty and was released in February 2018 on his mixtape Drip Season 3.

Later, in August 2016, Gunna appeared on Young Thug’s “Floyd Mayweather.” Rappers Travis Scott and Gucci Mane from the United States contribute vocals to the song, which is from Young Thug’s mixtape Jeffery. Additionally, Gunna’s debut mixtape Drip Season was made available through YSL Records in October 2016.
